At Bridge House, we want to provide a stable home for families in Luton experiencing homelessness and prepare them for the next part of their journey.
As a female-only residential support service, we understand the physical and psychological stress women and children can go through having to start their lives over and often after suffering years of trauma and abuse.
Bridge House is designed around mothers and their children and built upon their needs and aspirations to end the cycle of homelessness and enable future independent living in the community.
The service has seven supported temporary accommodation units for families. We provide support in a flexible, individualised approach so that women and children can progress in a way that suits them in a safe and stable environment. Many children residing at Bridge House have often experienced trauma or been victims of abuse, which is likely to impact them for the rest of their lives. It is vital that we offer them specialist support to negate the impact of these experiences as quickly as possible.
Our Early Years Practitioner supports mothers, allowing them the time to attend appointments and key work sessions to address their support needs and through advice and activity packs that aid their children’s learning and development.
Bridge House can accept: Expectant mothers, Mothers with up to two children under the age of 10 and single women aiming to have guardianship of their children. The maximum length of stay is up to 2 years, and residents are supported to prepare and access suitable move-on accommodation, be it Local Authority (local or relocating), Housing Association or privately rented.
You can refer yourself to the service, and referrals can also be made by social services, local authorities, housing providers, probation officers, CMHT and other partner agencies.
