Penrose Drive is a 24/7 accommodation and support service for men under probation supervision, helping them resettle in the community. It bridges prison and the community, building positive and supportive relationships to help those in our care lead positive, independent lives and turn their back on crime.
Penrose Drive is exceptionally skilled at providing high support, supervision and complex care. As a community-based public protection and rehabilitation service, we specialise in supporting people who present personal or public safety risks and work closely with the Police, The Probation Service and Community Mental Health Teams. We aim to create a home for people living at the service, where they can work together with staff from day one for move-on planning.
Staffed 24 hours a day, Penrose Drive can accommodate 25 residents with 11 fully accessible bedrooms, all within a trauma and psychologically-informed, enabling environment. Our friendly and dedicated team includes an Activities Coordinator with a specialist background in group facilitation, a Housing Lead, and a Forensic Psychologist to support individuals in our care further.
We work collaboratively with Probation Practitioners, service residents and their Sentence Plan objectives to produce a comprehensive schedule of purposeful activities and interventions to reduce the risk of reoffending, prepare them to resettle back into the community, and improve self-confidence, resilience and access employment, training and education opportunities.
We deliver a wide range of bespoke structured programmes across the nine desistence pathways to address criminogenic needs, with a minimum of six hours per week per resident. Link Workers sessions are underpinned by a coaching approach with an understanding of occupational therapy techniques, utilising activities to discuss goals and challenges whilst fostering ownership, accountability and a sense of purpose.
