Homelessness Prevention Worker
Mike McCusker
Brighton Trailblazers
Based in Brighton

Service description

The Aim of Trailblazers is to reduce numbers in emergency and temporary accommodation in Brighton & Hove. The project raises awareness of local housing difficulties and supports solutions through education and partnership working. Staffed by a single worker who is integrated into the wider Brighton services, the project works to inform and assist planned moves or sustain accommodation, to help dispel myths around intentional homelessness as a route to social housing. The project is an early intervention project and there is also funding included to reduce rough sleeping in the area. In terms of Outcomes, Equinox plays a key role in ensuring that accommodation issues are considered when referring clients to rehab, that placements are being sustained, that housing is provided when there is a duty to provide it and fulfil our remit to include providing tenancy sustainment to drug & alcohol users who are at risk of losing their accommodation.
