  • Referral Process

    Referral Process

We receive referrals via our Case Management System. Here, the aim is to capture all vital information on each client, including medical history, physical and mental health, safeguarding and risk-related factors, and Recovery Capital details. Once our doctor is satisfied to proceed with admission, we liaise with the referrer or client directly to arrange an admission date that works with any planned rehabilitation or Community Day programme following detox. All clients are required to complete a Covid screening questionnaire before admission. Please download and complete our referral form and send to: admin.brookdrive@equinoxcare.org.uk

Upon arrival, staff greet clients warmly and take them to our Admission Room. Each client is Covid tested and has an assessment and clinical observations recorded ready for the Psychiatrist admission assessment and prescribing regime.

  • Detox

Detox provides medically assisted withdrawal from substances. Treatment commences following careful assessment of individual client needs and are bespoke, evidence-based and underpinned by robust policies. Our Lead Addictions Psychiatrist Team oversees the treatment process and are available seven days a week, 24hours a day, supported by a GP to manage physical health challenges. We use medication approved by The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice).

We provide a rolling programme of complementary, holistic therapies and group activities covering emotional, mental and physical wellbeing, including massage, acupuncture, acupressure techniques and guided meditation. Our group therapies include understanding addiction and alcoholism, emotions in recovery, relapse prevention and anger management, smoking cessation, understanding healthy sleep and its importance (sleep hygiene), physical and mental health and art therapy. Our comprehensive abstinent-based, more extended stays offer an extensive range of group therapies, education, training, and employment readiness programmes alongside access to the local gym and any faith-related needs.

  • Unique Community

    Unique Community

Brook Drive offers a non-hospital environment and a unique community built around a peer support model. Clients going through this experience together can provide mutual support and build positive relationships and friendships. Our team of Substance Misuse Workers come from all walks of life and backgrounds and are experienced in all forms of addiction recovery to provide clients with the best care possible. By having this community of people, clients have a safe and non-judgemental space to talk to other people going through the same programme and group work and the opportunity to share their experiences. Clients have their own room with towels, bedding, storage space, and en-suite facilities and participate in maintaining a homely environment at Brook Drive, which provides several lounges, a TV room, a laundry room, and food available 24 hours a day through a dedicated chef team.

  • Stabilisation

2-4 Week Stabilisation-based Intermediate Residential Rehabilitation

We offer a safe and supportive intermediate rehabilitation residential setting, which supports stabilisation. We provide a crucial period of support to those who need more time after detox in an environment that promotes stabilisation, improves sustained Recovery Capital and prepares them for further residential and community rehabilitation or step-down housing in the community. We offer a programme of varied and skilled clinical and psychological assessment and intervention to maximise treatment and positive recovery outcomes. We can manage different aspects of care for alcohol and drug stabilisation, associated medical pathology and improving physical and psychological health and wellbeing. We provide life skills support and support around cooking, personal care, and self-esteem through our programme. Peer mentors and volunteers help clients access ongoing group work with Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous and other external services, including escorting them to the gym.

  • Move on

    Move on

We discharge clients for aftercare treatment within their community drug and alcohol treatment services unless private paying clients. Detailed discharge summaries are completed and shared with the relevant community Key Workers and GP. Clients going straight onto community rehabilitation will receive support and transportation links via their community funders. We provide a detailed treatment and discharge summary with Key Workers to share with the client’s new community rehabilitation team.
