At Social Interest Group (SIG), volunteers hold a unique perspective on the vital work we do, and their input is invaluable to shaping our services. We actively encourage volunteers to share their experiences, insights, and feedback to enhance our decision-making processes and improve how we support those in need.
We are committed to creating an open and supportive environment where volunteers feel heard. Whether discussing their roles, raising concerns, or celebrating successes, we ensure there are opportunities for meaningful dialogue. Regular feedback sessions and ongoing communication allow volunteers to reflect on their contributions, identify areas for growth, and collaborate with staff to strengthen our shared mission.
By empowering our volunteers to express their views and engage in decision-making, we foster a culture of inclusion and continuous improvement that benefits everyone involved.

“When I decided that I would like to find out about recovery roles, many charities and organisations came up on my search engine.
It was not only Social Interest Group’s ethos that struck a chord with me, but the website was inviting and easy for me to navigate. I sent an email to People and Culture to say that I was interested in recovery work but didn’t really know what to do about it! I was contacted swiftly and met with kindness and respect.
When I applied to be a volunteer, I also liaised with someone at People and Culture and had a video call too. I was able to ask questions as the video caller was very patient and welcoming. This meant that before I started my volunteering, I already felt valued by Social Interest Group.”
