Celebrating a Decade of Collaboration: Reflecting on 10 Years of Innovation and Growth at the Social Interest Group

As we begin to celebrate our 10th Anniversary, I invite you to explore how our collaborative model continues to shape positive change, as we look to the next 10 years of growth and innovation.

I alongside fellow Trustees in Penrose and Equinox care, founded the Social Interest Group because so many brilliant charities were facing uncertain futures, with austerity hindering their missions and charitable objectives.

Creating the Group enabled its members to pool their back-office functions and focus more resources on doing what they do best, supporting people on the frontline. The structure of the Group has evolved, but the driving ethos remains; we bring expert charities together to collaborate and learn from each other to identify gaps and develop lasting solutions.

Over the past 10 years our brilliant subsidiaries, SIG Penrose, SIG Equinox, SIG Pathways, SIG Safe Ground and SIG Housing Trust, have supported over 96,000 people in residential, custodial, healthcare and community settings. I’m immensely proud of the outcomes we have achieved; enhancing wellbeing, supporting independent living and reducing hospital admissions and reoffending.

Sadly, the challenges facing both our sector and public services have only grown, and the need for our services has never been greater. With crisis comes opportunity, and with rapid advancements in technology, we will continue to channel our collective expertise to develop impactful alternatives to hospital and prisons, create homes for life, and ensure a focus on preventative interventions that help to avert crises before they occur.

We know that to continue delivering the outcomes we strive for, we must continue to adapt, evolve and innovate. It’s what our sector does best, and I look forward to collaborating with you all over the next 10 years.
