How to Clear Cookies and Browsing History on Your Device

If you’re concerned about someone seeing that you visited our website, you can clear your browsing history and cookies. Here’s how to do it on the most common devices:

Important Note: Our website includes a LEAVE SITE button that lets you quickly switch to the BBC homepage. This is useful if you need to exit fast, but it does not delete your browsing history or cookies. If someone has access to your device, they could still see that you visited our site. Follow the steps below if you want to remove that information if that is a concern.

Other things you can do to protect your privacy:

Private browsing: Next time, consider using Incognito Mode (Chrome), Private Browsing (Safari), or InPrivate (Edge). These modes don’t save history.

Clear your history after each visit: If you share your device, clearing history after each session adds extra privacy.

If you’re worried about your safety or experiencing abuse, you’re not alone.
