SIG Celebrates 10 Years
A Decade of Impact and Growth at Social Interest Group
Read moreMedway CJS project provides residential resettlement and support for male adults. It is designed to help men experiencing homelessness, in unsuitable accommodation, or at immediate risk of homelessness who also have experience and history with the Criminal Justice System. The service aims to reduce re-offending risks and keep the community safe. Residents can stay at our services for a maximum of two years.
We work closely with people connected to Medway who are almost ready to return to independent living. Our services help with a range of support needs and extend across five sites, creating a pathway to support step-down and progression, accommodating up to 15 residents.
We offer counselling and coaching to address trauma recovery, minimise harmful behaviour and anxiety, improve coping techniques and encourage healthy eating and daily living skills to increase tenancy sustainment. We can also provide access to local leisure, training, and employment opportunities, as well as education and practices that enhance literacy and numeracy skills. Service residents have access to a team of Support Coaches who visit services 3 to 4 times a week to ensure they are making progress.
Residents not currently engaged with local drug treatment providers who need support for their substance use can also access our Medway Peer Mentor Service for advice about harm reduction or support to engage with local drug treatment services and referrals.
Adult men who are currently under probation services or who have criminal justice history requiring low, medium and high support. People from Medway will be prioritised but other areas can be considered.
All referrals are through Medway Council via the HUUME Supported Accommodation System. To access this, please make a Homeless Application at Medway Council’s Housing Options in Gillingham and request to be placed on the Supported Housing List, or call Housing Options on 01634 333600.
