Taking a Major Step Forward: Our First Property Purchase for Supported Living

We are thrilled to announce the purchase of our very first property, marking a significant milestone in our journey as a non-profit organisation. Specialising in providing supported living for individuals facing mental health challenges, substance use issues, homelessness, domestic violence, and criminal justice-related difficulties, this acquisition is the initial stepping stone towards a much larger goal Registering our subsidiary SIG Housing Trust as a Registered Social Landlord.

This property will serve as transitional accommodation, a crucial yet often underfunded area that is essential for people leaving our more intensive support services. We know how difficult it can be for people to move from high-support environments into independent living, and the gap in suitable, affordable housing is stark. Our plan is to offer quality, affordable, stable homes as a stepping stone, helping individuals adjust to greater independence while still providing them with the support they need to thrive.

The need for this type of interim housing is immense. Too often, individuals leaving supported living are forced into housing that is unsuitable, unsustainable, or simply unavailable. Our new property aims to bridge that gap, offering a safe, affordable space where residents can continue their recovery journey while building the skills and confidence they need to eventually live independently.

This is only the beginning. Our long-term goal is to expand our housing portfolio and create more opportunities for affordable, transitional housing, addressing the critical shortage of this type of accommodation. By becoming a registered social landlord, we can ensure that those who need it most have access to homes that are safe, secure, and conducive to continued personal growth.

Stay tuned as we work towards expanding this SIG subsidiary and thank you for supporting us as we take this vital step toward empowering more individuals in their journey to independence.
