At a recent all-staff webinar, CEO Mark Milton reaffirmed Social Interest Group’s strong and ongoing commitment to the Real Living Wage. He made it clear that fair pay is a central priority, placing it firmly at the heart of the organisation’s new remuneration strategy. This approach reflects SIG’s dedication to supporting its workforce and recognising the vital role staff play in delivering high-quality services.
This year’s pay uplift highlights that commitment in action. SIG chose to implement the increase before funding had been formally confirmed, a decision that carried a level of financial risk. Despite this, the organisation moved forward because it aligns with its core values and belief in doing the right thing for staff. It demonstrates a proactive stance in a sector where financial uncertainty often delays such decisions.
Looking ahead, SIG has pledged to continue working closely with commissioners to secure sustainable funding that supports fair wages. Alongside this external advocacy, there is a firm internal commitment to maintain the Real Living Wage for all staff. Mark Milton emphasised that the organisation will continue to push for fair pay each year, reinforcing that valuing employees remains fundamental to SIG’s mission and long-term success.
