Our bespoke programmes

Safe Ground offers bespoke programmes tailored to meet the specific needs of your service or organisation. We consider participants, and prospective participants, our design and delivery partners in this process, and in this way, you are responsible for informing us of the work’s resonance, relevance, and value throughout. We also collaborate with our network of alumni members, community artists, academics, and sector colleagues.

While the Covid-19 pandemic required us to reconfigure many of our usual practices, Safe Ground now delivers services online and designs work with technology in mind.

Services and interventions commissioned for bespoke design with a particular cohort in mind include:

  • The Sisterhood – a journal of resources designed to support creative self-expression and complement one-to-one work with girls at Sandwell Youth Offending Service – commissioned by Sandwell Children’s Trust
  • Family Focus – a digital in-cell family relationships programme designed for self-directed learning – commissioned by Bedfordshire, Cambridge & Norfolk Prison Group
  • Make Your Mark – a creative self-development programme for women designed to enable drop-in attendance – commissioned by The Minerva WrapAround service in partnership with the Mayor of London and the Mayor’s Office for Policing & Crime (MOPAC)
  • The Comfort Zone – a reading and creative writing programme delivered online to people suffering low levels of mental health and anxiety, and in receipt of a social prescription – commissioned by Healthy London Partnerships in partnership with Arts Council England and the Mayor of London
  • The Common Room – an online reflective practice space for prison-based educators nationwide during the Covid-19 pandemic – commissioned by the Prisoner Learning Alliance
  • The Cay – a programme designed for adult males who are serving long sentences and have extensive criminal and prison careers – commissioned by HMPPS

What programme participants say

“It felt different to be able to talk to other people and share experiences… I think that women often don’t have any form of outlet and this group allowed me to say things and come out of my shell.”

Our Own Stories

“I particularly love how this course encourages [you] to get our of [your] head – by just getting it out, explore, question, maybe understand and move on.”

The Comfort Zone

“You know when you look back in your life and you have ‘moments’, well I know this course is going to one of mine”

Fathers Inside

“My imagination was inspired; I was able to channel a bereavement into a positive outlet.”

The Comfort Zone

“Fathers Inside made me feel positive and accept where I am. I have learned that I can still make my daughter happy even though I am inside”

Fathers Inside

“Week 4 was a like a breath of new, fresh air and I was able to turn everything round and develop hope and belief in myself.”

The Comfort Zone

“It pushed me to do things I’d never done before like role play. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone. I wouldn’t have done all of this creative work if it wasn’t in the group – it’s amazing. I’ve added something to myself and I’m proud of what I’ve overcome.”

Our Own Stories

“It has made me more aware of my responsibilities and how important my role as a father is in my child’s life”

Fathers Inside

“Listening to people’s views and their writing, and freely writing myself… made me feel safe and strong. I understand myself better, as well as other people.”

The Comfort Zone

“It’s a good start to the week to have on a Monday morning and a reason to get up. It makes me feel empowered.”

Our Own Stories

“I find myself being more optimistic about the time we spend together and doing the best I can from where I am.”

Fathers Inside

"I really appreciated being able to speak to someone who had been through similar experiences to me. It sometimes feels like nobody has wanted to hear my voice, so it was nice to talk to someone who understands.”
