Local Partnership Helps Enhance Support for Women in Brighton

SIG Equinox Brighton Women’s Service has recently benefited from generous support from Modelo Lounge, a local restaurant that has chosen the service as its new charity partner.

The partnership began after Brighton Women’s Service contacted Modelo Lounge to explore potential fundraising opportunities. After learning more about the service and the women it supports, the team at Modelo Lounge was keen to get involved and help make a positive contribution to women in the local community.

In June, Modelo Lounge raised more than £600 for Brighton Women’s Service through a range of community fundraising activities, including a raffle, quiz night and bake sale. This support will enhance the experience of women accessing the service, providing additional opportunities alongside the vital support delivered by staff.

As part of the partnership, Modelo Lounge invited residents and staff to enjoy a free meal at the restaurant. On 29 July, 12 residents and staff members attended a lunch together, creating an opportunity for women to spend time in a welcoming community setting, enjoy positive social interaction, and build confidence in accessing local spaces. The team at Modelo Lounge was thoughtful and accommodating throughout the visit. They reserved a section of the restaurant for the group to help ensure the environment felt comfortable and not overwhelming for residents. This consideration helped create a positive and inclusive experience for everyone who attended.

For Brighton Women’s Service, opportunities like this play an important role in supporting wider outcomes for residents. Alongside safe accommodation and specialist support, positive community experiences can help reduce isolation, build confidence, and support women to feel more connected to their local area. Brighton Women’s Service is incredibly grateful to Modelo Lounge for their kindness, generosity and commitment to supporting women in the community. Their fundraising and hospitality are a strong example of how local partnerships can add real value to commissioned services and contribute to improved wellbeing for the people we support.
