Celebrating the People and Journeys Behind Our Impact

The SIG Awards 2026 brought together colleagues, volunteers, residents and participants for a powerful celebration of the people and journeys at the heart of our work. More than an awards ceremony, the event recognised the resilience, growth and recovery that define what we do, highlighting not only professional excellence, but also the achievements of those we support as they build confidence, independence and hope.

From the outset, the focus was clear: this was about real lives and real impact. The event created space to recognise both those delivering services and those progressing through them. Because recovery is not a single moment, it is a shared journey shaped by trust, persistence and meaningful relationships. That message carried through every story, every award, and every conversation.

This year’s award categories reflected the breadth of impact across SIG, including Leadership, Best Staff Team, Excellence in Delivery, Care and Support, Innovation, and Biggest Impact. Together, they showcased the dedication, creativity and collaboration that drive our work forward. Importantly, recognition extended beyond staff and volunteers. Service residents and participants were also celebrated, with their progress, resilience, and personal achievements acknowledged. Their journeys are a powerful reminder of why this work matters.

Throughout the event, stories from across our services brought these categories to life. Many centred on individuals who had rebuilt confidence after periods of instability, developed new skills, and taken important steps towards independent living. Others highlighted people who had gone further, supporting peers, contributing to group activities, and using their voices to represent others. These stories show that recovery is not just about personal progress; it can lead to empowerment, connection and active participation within a community.

The Care and Support category underscored the importance of consistency, empathy, and trust. Strong relationships are at the core of effective support, helping people feel safe and empowered to move forward at their own pace. Meanwhile, the Excellence in Delivery and Biggest Impact awards demonstrated how well-designed services and committed teams can deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes. From improved wellbeing to sustained engagement and long-term stability, these examples showed the difference that the right support can make.

Collaboration was another key theme. The Best Staff Team category highlighted how working together, within services and across the organisation, enables teams to respond to complex needs more effectively. These examples reinforced an important truth: positive outcomes rarely happen in isolation. They are a result of shared effort, collective responsibility and a strong sense of purpose.

Innovation also took centre stage, with the Spark Award celebrating creative approaches to recovery and personal development. From art and writing groups, these approaches help individuals build confidence and express themselves in new ways. They remind us that recovery is not only practical, but emotional and social, requiring opportunities for people to explore their strengths, interests and identity.

A consistent message throughout the day was that recovery is an ongoing journey. Progress looks different for everyone, and every step forward, no matter how small, matters. Whether it’s building a routine, forming new relationships, or gaining confidence to try something new, each milestone contributes to a wider story of change and possibility.

The atmosphere of the event reflected a strong sense of community. Colleagues, trustees, volunteers, residents and participants came together not just to celebrate, but to connect and reflect. It was a powerful reminder that SIG’s impact is built on relationships, on listening, supporting and believing in people’s potential.

The event made one thing clear: impact is never created alone. It is shaped through collaboration, trust and a shared commitment to helping people thrive. Because at SIG, every contribution matters, and every story is part of the impact we create together.
