The Luton’s Best Awards honour individuals and organisations making a significant impact locally. A panel of judges select winners from hundreds of public nominations.
SIG Penrose Bridge House was honoured with the Care in the Community Award, sponsored by Volker Highways. This award recognises their exceptional work providing specialist short-term accommodation and holistic support for vulnerable mothers and children. Bridge House has been a lifeline for over a decade, helping families experiencing homelessness build the skills needed for independent living.

Kathleen Gardner’s outstanding work with SIG Penrose STEPS earned her runner-up recognition in the Care in the Community category. Her dedication to supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges and assisting them in securing safe housing highlights the vital role of stable accommodation in recovery.
SIG Penrose Roots won the Environmental Achievement of the Year Award, sponsored by Utilita Energy Hub. This award celebrates their commitment to environmental conservation, promoting sustainable living, and green social prescribing approaches, like therapeutic community gardening. Roots brings people together to overcome social isolation, reconnect with nature, and promote recovery and well-being.
