Changes Needed in Housing Sector

Our Group CEO Gill Arukpe, has contributed an article to the Inside Housing publication, in which she discusses, what changes the sector needs to make to offer high-quality housing to homeless people. In the article, Gill talks about the changes needed in the industry, What SIG is doing, her time managing Arlington House, the UK’s largest hostel for homeless people and the need for better funding for the sector.

Gill said: “It is essential to our residents and to us that we provide trauma-informed accommodation and use psychologically informed environments. It is vital that our residents feel valued and that the look and upkeep of the accommodation is of high specification – this is essential in aiding residents’ recovery and rehabilitation or resettlement.”

Gill is looking forward to entering a partnership with the National Housing Group who are property experts and understand SIG’s needs.
