We are currently recruiting for a number of Bank / Relief Recovery Support Workers to join our services in Brighton, where you will have responsibility for providing high quality support services in line with SIG Equinox's Mission, Values and Strategy.

Brighton Women’s Service launched in January 2018 and is a female-only residential project providing 9 high/complex needs beds and 9 medium needs beds. The service has a trauma informed approach using a PIE model. The staff teams work in close collaboration with health partners and other agencies to ensure that the combined programme of specialist support enables service users to meet their personal goals.

As a Bank / Relief Recovery Support Worker, you will provide effective care / support and assistance to service users and therefore will have experience of working with adults who are vulnerable and have multiple and complex needs.

Bank staff members are based either in the registered care homes, residential projects or in the floating support teams, and may be offered assignments at any location.

The schemes provide support 7 days a week. Bank Staff provide cover based on a shift roster, which includes day, evening, night and weekend duty. Working patterns are dependent on individual schemes and are subject to review to ensure that staffing cover is planned to meet the needs of the service users. You must be willing to work flexibly, which includes weekday hours, evenings and weekend working.

Bank Staff posts encompass key areas of responsibility, plus other duties:

  • Equal opportunities


  • NVQ Level 2 or above in Social Care, Community Justice or similar related subject
  • Some experience of working with ex-offenders, persons with mental health ill health or substance misuse issues
  • Experience of supporting the needs of vulnerable people and providing personal care
  • Some experience of working with people with challenging / provocative behaviours
  • Direct experience of providing housing related support, and practical assistance to vulnerable people

 Key Skills and Abilities:       

  • Ability to form effective therapeutic relationships
  • Ability to deal with complex and challenging situations calmly and appropriately
  • Ability make effective judgements
  • Ability to undertake practical domestic tasks with service users
  • Ability to liaise in a professional manner with other agencies, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to take part (where appropriate) in joint work with staff
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and write clear reports using accounting and word processing software.
