We are currently recruiting for highly motivated Positive Engagement Workers to join our Forensic Mental Health Services based in Croydon to work as key members of an integrated multi-disciplinary team in maintaining and delivering a high standard of care and support rehabilitation service. The Positive Engagement Worker will develop and facilitate service user participation and engagement and support recovery related activities; promoting recovery and independent living where appropriate. You will also provide pathways, support and appropriate interventions to enable successful resettlements.

To be successful in this role, you will have great communication and engagement skills, with the maturity to work within a framework of recovery, building confidence, self-esteem, hope and positive coping skills. You will be someone who shares our values and be committed to achieving great outcomes for our service users.

You will required to work 37.5 hours per week, in a shift pattern including weekends, bank holidays, so you’ll need to be flexible with the hours you are able to work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To develop SIG Penrose services to support service users in contributing to the wider community
  • To facilitate and deliver activities to engage service users who historically do not engage
  • To develop and facilitate the Volunteer and Peer Mentoring support programme
  • To engage Recovery Workers/ Positive Engagement Workers to communicate the importance of service user involvement and the benefits it holds
  • To develop genuine Service User led services across all services using a psychologically informed environment (PIE) model Penrose
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with external partners, agencies and commissioners to achieve the desired outcomes of the service providing safer more integrated communities for all stakeholders

Experience Required:

  • NVQ / Diploma level 3 in Health & Social Care / Community Justice or professional equivalent
  • Experience of working with offenders who may have mental health issues / substance misuse / challenging chaotic  behaviours
  • On the job experience of drafting and agreeing support plans and providing appropriate interventions for service user and liaising with other professional to bring the plans to fruition
  • Understanding and practical knowledge interventions of the social and societal marginalisation can be attached to people with mental health issues and complex needs
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral with both internally and externally with outside agencies and bodies
  • Sensitive to both clients and staff needs
  • Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with the clients and supporting professional bodies
