Service description
HerStory House is a specialist high support female residential service specifically designed for women with multiple and complex needs who have offended.
The service is commissioned jointly by HM Prison & Probation Service and NHS England & NHS Improvement, as part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway for women who are deemed high risk, and likely to satisfy the diagnosis of personality disorder.
HerStory House’s residents meet specific criteria, thereby facilitating their eventual move on to fully independent living in the community.
The purpose of HerStory House is to provide the women with safe and enabling accommodation to prepare for independent living, within a psychologically informed environment. They are supported daily by Engagement Workers to develop living skills and find positive links within the community.
HerStory House also delivers a Well Being Hub for residents and other women screened into the pathway. This offers therapeutic programmes and activities to enable them to learn new skills and create positive and healthy relationships.
Referral pathway through South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.
